Quiet and focused. Two words used to describe the locker room before a game. With the Cougars advancing to the 4th round in the playoffs the world inside and out of the locker room has become ever more important. From mental preparations, last minute group huddles, and speeches from the coach the time spent in the locker room gets used to its full advantage.

“The locker room before a game is intense,” said junior Shane Hudson. “Everyone is focused. They are listening to music, and getting their minds right for the game.”

The Cougars made their third round appearance on November 29 as they took on the Brenham cubs. In a well fought battle the Cougars pulled out victorious with a 38-20 score and move on to play the Hutto Hippos in the quarterfinal game on December 6 in San Marcos.

“The whole team did great,” said senior Justin Cegielski. “Defense was hard, fast, and physical just like they are every game. Offense had big plays and they scored when needed.”

The team made history as being the first Cougar team to make it to round four playoffs since the 1960 Cougar Buffalos. The win against Brenham changed the record to 12-1 and moved the Cougars on to the next round where they can continue to make school history.

“It was exciting,” said senior Matthew Gregory. “It felt great to do something Crosby has never done before.”

After the win the tone of the locker room completely changes. The post-game celebration is moved from the field into the locker room where the team can pack up and celebrate together as a team.

“It’s crazy,” said junior Tristen Cotton. “Everybody is jumping around, screaming, playing music. It’s fun.”
